A fleshy, fast-growing groundcover, salt-tolerant, drought-tolerant species preferring a sunny position in sandy soil. A low-maintenance plant with few pests and diseases, also an important sand stabilizer.

Showy pink flowers occur throughout the year, and the edible leaves can be used in salads or other dishes.
